Rampant poverty, pervasive inequalities and structural discrimination are among the greatest global challenges since long time. Addressing these challenges effectively requires measures grounded in human rights. We need a social contract which fairly shares power, resources and opportunities and sets the foundations of a sustainable human rights-based economy.

What are Human Rights?
As a human being, all individuals are equal and they have equal human rights. These are inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being regardless of race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
Human rights include the right to life, liberty and privacy, right to freedom from slavery and torture, right freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education. It also includes right to seek asylum and much more. Every human being is entitled to these rights, without discrimination.

UDHR to protect Human Rights
Barbarous acts which outraged the conscience of mankind during the second World War made it very necessary for framing an internationally accepted law that safeguard the human rights and thus UDHR was formed by United Nations on 10 December 1948.

Safeguarding the Human Rights, the United Nations has defined a broad range of rights, including civil, cultural, economic, political and social rights which are accepted internationally. It also established mechanisms to promote and protect these human rights. Since framing of UDHR on 10 December 1948, United Nations has been gradually expanded human rights law to encompass specific standards for women, children, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups of the society who now possess rights that protect them from discrimination. All the Sustainable Development Goals including the right to health, the right to adequate food, the right to justice and due process, and the right to self-determination promote basic human rights.
To promote and aware the people about human rights, Human Rights Day is celebrated on 10 December every year. The day is adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948, by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Human Rights in India
Human Rights are reflecting in Fundamental Rights & Directive Principles of State Policy of Indian Constitution. Fundamental Rights in Indian constitution provides the protection of human rights from article 12-35, under these article it provides rights to equality, rights to freedom, right against exportation, right to freedom of religion, right to life, cultural & educational rights, right to privacy. DPSPs are the guidelines for Govt. of India to work for welfare of citizen and provide them protection.
In India and all over the world Governments, originations & individual are working hard to protect the human rights and provide the equality but on the grass root level reality is different in the era of Pandemic inequality and violation of human rights are quite visible. Lots African and Caribbean & Asian nation are facing the lack of covid-19 vaccine while some rich nations holding the stock of vaccines, this shows the unequal division of basic recourses.
According to UN report 30 Million people dying from hunger worldwide, Millions of people are deprived from clean water, shelter, education, vaccine and other heath assistance. Lots of people are living in civil war affected nation like Syria, Yemen and deprived from their human rights, facing the difficulties to lead a normal life.
Instead of promptly celebrating human rights day and blame game of Rich Nations, Nations should come together to take the responsibly and act on the ground level. There is no meaning of Celebrating Human Rights Day when lots of human around world are deprived from their basic human rights.
